McDonald’s Just Announced a New Grandma-Inspired McFlurry

Another McFlurry flavor is on the way, so McDonald’s lovers may sate their sweet desire even more. The newest frozen delicacy from the company is named after a very important member of the family, and it was just unveiled.

The fast food behemoth unveiled their latest creation today—the Grandma McFlurry—and stated that it will be available for a limited period beginning on May 21. According to McDonald’s, this offering is “like grandma’s favorite treat that she hid in her purse.” It consists of a blend of vanilla soft serve, syrup, and crunchy candy pieces.

Even though the new McFlurry won’t be available for purchase for another five days, New York City residents can get a free sample from Grandma’s McFlurry Mobile, McDonald’s ice cream truck, on May 17 and 18.

Between 1:30 and 7 p.m. on May 17, the truck will make a stop at Herald Square, which is located at 104 West 35th Street. Afterwards, on May 18, the truck will make stops at two locations: one in Flushing, from 3 to 4 p.m., and another in East Harlem, from 12 to 1 p.m. McDonald’s has advised customers to “keep your eyes peeled!” but has not disclosed the specific locations.

The new McFlurry release is just the beginning of the excitement. Fast food giant McDonald’s is bringing back two classics in an effort to connect with grandmas everywhere.

With the help of the chain’s collaborator, singer-songwriter Remi Wolf, a cover version of “How Sweet It Is (To be Loved By You)” will be released on May 21 across all music platforms. Covering “Piel Canela,” which is currently available for streaming, McDonald’s teamed up with Jay Wheeler, who has been nominated for two Latin Grammys.

A press release was issued by Tariq Hassan, chief marketing and customer experience officer of McDonald’s. Hassan stated that grandparents have always been unique to the company, and now they are having a significant impact on culture by influencing trends in food, décor, and fashion.

“The Grandma McFlurry tastes like a trip down memory lane, and we’re excited to give our fans that experience while honoring the grandma-figure in all our lives.”

In addition, McDonald’s has announced that it will be donating to Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly, a nationwide network of nonprofits that helps lonely and isolated seniors.

Fans of McDonald’s can now order more than just the Grandma McFlurry. There are two new Cajun chicken sandwiches that the brand introduced last month.

First up is the 630-calorie Bacon Cajun Ranch McCrispy, a toasted potato roll topped with a fried chicken fillet cooked in a southern manner, applewood-smoked bacon, crinkle-cut pickles, and a creamy Cajun ranch sauce.

With the addition of shredded lettuce and Roma tomatoes, the second new sandwich, the Bacon Cajun Ranch Deluxe McCrispy (630 calories), retains all the same ingredients. Both of these new menu options are only going to be available for a short while.
