Since the beginning of 2024, Popeyes has been rather quiet with the introduction of new menu items. Fans who are seeking to diversify their Popeyes order will be pleased to hear that the chicken restaurant has recently opted to update its menu with not one, but two intriguing new options.
New Buffalo Crispy Chicken Wraps (610 calories) and Loaded Buffalo Poutines (980 calories) were introduced earlier this month by Popeyes. Only participating Popeyes restaurants in Canada will get the new buffalo items, which is a bummer for such an exciting debut.
So, American Popeyes lovers will have to long for the new selections from far away unless anyone plans a trip to Canada soon. We may not be holding our breath for poutine just yet, but we can certainly hope that the new wrap will be available in the US at some point.
Tender chicken, spicy buffalo sauce, crisp lettuce, and juicy tomato make up this wrap. In July of the previous year, Popeyes released a new flavor variety of its Crispy Chicken Wrap in the Canadian market. A press statement describes the new Loaded Buffalo Poutine as having Popeyes’ Cajun Fries as the base, with fresh cheese curds, gravy, and crispy nuggets coated in “bold buffalo flavor” on top.
According to Rob Manuel, general manager for Popeyes Canada, Canadians are known for their adventurous palates, so the company is excited to provide customers with a new option to elevate their lunch and dinner meals with the robust flavor of buffalo.
Although we are really anticipating people trying our updated Crispy Chicken Wrap, my personal favorite is the Loaded Buffalo Poutine. It’s the cherry on top of this launch that’s only available in Canada.
Although the new buffalo alternatives will not be available to Popeyes’ American following, a handful of new and returning dishes have made it to U.S. menus this year. Some of the chain’s restaurants in the Nashville, Tennessee, area were among those who started testing a new Signature Hot Crispy Chicken Sandwich earlier this month.
The sandwich’s new trademark hot sauce sits over slices of barrel-cured pickles and a battered and fried chicken breast fillet.
Middle of March saw the debut of Popeyes’ new limited-edition Honey Lemon Pepper chicken wings, which had 1,304.6 calories per six-piece order. The wings are coated in a spice blend of sweet honey, tart lemon, and black pepper before being hand-battered.
Honey BBQ (880 calories), Roasted Garlic Parmesan (1,040 calories), Signature Hot (1,190 calories), Ghost Pepper (680 calories), and Sweet’ N Spicy (910 calories) are the five flavors of wings that Popeyes already offers. The new wings are available in addition to these five varieties.
In addition, Popeyes reintroduced their seasonal Flounder Fish Sandwiches (681 calories) and Spicy Flounder Fish Sandwiches (730 calories) in February, shortly before the beginning of Lent. Both of these sandwiches are still available for purchase at this time.
