The arrival of a new year brings with it the chance to reminisce about your beloved fast food joints, and Popeyes is starting 2023 off well with some old favorites. Get in quick, since these fiery chicken wings and two returning sweet treats will only be available for a limited time (February 12).
To start, after a little hiatus since its 2014 debut, the fried chicken lovers will finally get to enjoy their notoriously spicy Ghost Pepper Wings.
Using the official Popeyes app or placing an online purchase, customers may get six wings for $6 or twelve wings for $12, as stated on the website. Extra promos include “a free Apple Pie in the form of 200 bonus points” and a $5-for-six-wings bargain at certain Popeyes locations when you purchase the Ghost Pepper Wings.
Ghost peppers are among the spiciest peppers you can eat, and their strength is no laughing matter. We previously mentioned that ghost peppers can have 1,041,427 Scoville heat units, which is the highest number according to the Scoville scale. Ghost peppers are more than 400 times hotter than a mild jalapeño, as compared to jalapeños, which have a heat range of 2,500 to 8,000 Scoville units.
The chicken pieces will reportedly be “marinated in a ghost pepper spice blend for at least 12 hours” as per the official press release, suggesting that the recipe would remain largely unchanged. Popeyes buttermilk ranch will be offered on the side to cool them down.
The Strawberry Cheesecake Cup, a dessert option that debuted in 2021, is among the sweets that have made a triumphant return to the menu. This delightful treat is perfect for those on the go because it comes in individual serving cups and features a graham cracker shell, strawberry purée, and a creamy cheesecake filling.
As an alternate to the fried apple pie that was previously available as a gift with Ghost Pepper Wings, Blueberry Lemon Pie is now back for your eating pleasure. The sugary blueberry filling and the lemony cream cheese go well together. Among Popeyes’ fried hand pies, you’ll find the Blueberry Lemon Pie, which joins the ranks with strawberry, blackberry, and raspberry fillings.
