Surprise, surprise! Burger King is set to unleash a big salvo in the so-called fast-food “Chicken Sandwich Wars” that began in 2019. Twenty-third January will see the launch of not one, not two, but three chicken sandwiches from BK’s new “International Original Chicken Sandwich” portfolio, ensuring that the fast-food chicken sandwich will have a banner year in 2023.
The trio will consist of three distinct chicken sandwiches: an American Original, a Mexican Original, and an Italian Original. A lengthy sesame seed bun will hold a breaded chicken patty in each of the new sandwiches. Toppings for the “American” will include tomatoes, lettuce, cheese, and mayonnaise.
With jalapeños and a spicy queso sauce, the “Mexican” will be served. The “Italian” will also feature marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese. There is a new Mexican Original Chicken Sandwich and two homages to BK menu items from the ’80s: the American and the Italian.
Based on comments provided via the r/fastfood section on Reddit, it appears that Burger King fans are generally thrilled about the new sandwiches. “I am excited, the Italian chicken sandwich is my favorite fast-food item… “was one of the comments provided by an anonymous user. The Italian version will be devoured by me.
Many Burger King fans also took a minute to grieve the removal of the Ch’King Sandwich from the menu, though others expressed those views as well. After barely over a year on the market, the beloved by many was pulled from circulation in August 2022.
“The Ch’King was my go-to,” one irate Reddit user wrote. They let the sandwich go, and I let BK go, too. In response to the same statement, someone else wrote: “Ch’King was the only reason I started going back to BK. The original “Chicken” sandwich is too much for me to eat.
Hopefully, Burger King’s new “international” sandwiches will be well-received by many customers.
