Dairy Queen Is Discontinuing a Fan-Favorite Dipped Ice Cream Cone

In addition to the expanding selection of blended blizzards, few Dairy Queen offerings are as emblematic as the dipped ice cream cones. These popular confections are a delight for both the palate and the visual senses. Dairy Queen creates them by enveloping creamy vanilla soft serve in a sweet, crunchy coating that rapidly solidifies on the surface of the cold ice cream.

Dairy Queen consumers will have one fewer dipped cone option this summer, as the popular Cherry Dipped Cone has been officially withdrawn.

Dairy Queen has confirmed to multiple media sources this week that the treat has been discontinued, however fans were initially alerted to the move last week via a viral TikTok that garnered over four million views. A video from an account associated with a Michigan Dairy Queen store features a worker announcing to customers the unfortunate news that the chain is removing cherry dip from its menus. The employees informed the customers that after the cherry dip supply in the store is depleted, they will no longer be available for purchase until further notice.

The Cherry Dipped Cones have been removed from the Dairy Queen website, hence consumers can currently only get Chocolate or Churro Dipped Cones. Fans of the discontinued cherry dip were incensed and devastated by the announcement.

A TikToker said, “This is the worst day of my life,” in response to the viral video.

“I am initiating legal action against Dairy Queen,” another quipped.

The cherry dip has been officially discontinued, although it has intermittently appeared on menus in recent years, with its most recent return being in spring 2022 following a temporary break, as reported by CBS. Dairy Queen has not dismissed the potential reappearance of the Cherry Dipped Cones in the future.

There is now a process on to remove the Cherry Dipped Cone off Dairy Queen’s menu. Consequently, Dairy Queen frequently updates their dipped cone flavors, and Cherry Dipped Cones may reappear in the future. A Dairy Queen spokesman stated to TODAY.com that fans should inquire with their local DQ location regarding the available flavors.

The most recent popular fast-food item was withdrawn in 2023, disappointing its devotees. Additional popular favorites removed from menus are Taco Bell’s Quesarito, Starbucks’ raspberry syrup, and Dunkin’s Dunkaccino.
