Heinz Reveals New Pickle-Flavored Ketchup Coming in 2024

Ketchup and pickles have always been cherished accompaniments to traditional American comfort dishes such as hot dogs and hamburgers. Pickle Ketchup is a new amusing mashup sauce from Heinz that combines two favorite toppings.

Heinz asserts that the new ketchup would retain the familiar flavor of its classic product, enhanced with a slight acidity characteristic of pickles. Heinz announced the creation of this product, set to launch in shops nationally in early 2024, to fulfill consumers’ need for distinctive, sophisticated, and complex flavor sensations.

Pickles have increasingly gained popularity in recent years, prompting marketers to introduce a variety of pickle-flavored items, including potato chips, mustard, seasoning blends, and even canned cocktails. Heinz emphasized the “obsession with pickles,” using a Dataessential survey indicating that 73% of Americans stated they “enjoy the taste of pickles.”

Katie Peterson, director of Heinz innovation at The Kraft Heinz Company, stated in a press release that the heightened demand for flavorful yet unconventional condiments has guided our innovation efforts for several years. The prevailing pickle phenomenon in America reflects the fervent affection Heinz enthusiasts possess for the brand, hence it was logical to amalgamate these two cherished flavors in our latest ketchup.

Heinz’s Pickle Ketchup is presently offered at select retailers in the United Kingdom and is scheduled to debut in additional regions later this year and early next year.

Pickles have been featured under the Heinz brand, which previously included a little gherkin in its emblem until its removal in 2009. Heinz has been marketing pickles for over 150 years, with its founder, Henry J. Heinz, referred to as the “Pickle King” due to his ownership of the largest pickle enterprise in the United States during the early 1900s.

Heinz has unveiled further hybrid condiments this fall, including pickle-flavored ketchup. The business has recently launched 100 bottles of a limited-edition sauce titled “Ketchup and Seemingly Ranch.” The product was inspired by a viral image of Taylor Swift endorsing tight end Travis Kelce at a Kansas City Chiefs game, where she was observed with a platter of chicken tenders. The caption of the photo indicated that, in addition to ketchup, the second dip on the plate was “apparently ranch.”

This year, Heinz has introduced three varieties of hot ketchup, limited-edition “Sauce Drops,” and Heinz Remix—a personalized digital sauce dispenser.
