This year is ideal for Taco Bell enthusiasts seeking a substantial dose of nostalgia. The fast-food chain is reintroducing its popular Volcano Menu this summer, nearly 30 years after its initial launch. As of today, a new fiery variation of the favored Nacho Fries has been released at restaurants nationwide for a limited duration.
Fans may now anticipate the limited-time reintroduction of another much sought-after discontinued Taco Bell item: the Beefy Crunch Burrito.
Taco Bell solicited consumer votes in late March for the reinstatement of either the burrito or the Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Taco. Although some consumers advocated for the Cool Ranch taco, their votes fell short of surpassing the fervent affection that Taco Bell enthusiasts harbor for the Beefy Crunch Burrito.
This excessively filled burrito contained seasoned meat, sour cream, seasoned rice, and nacho cheese sauce, along with the crunchy enhancement of Fritos Flamin’ Hot Flavored Corn Chips. Taco Bell initially launched the item in 2010 and discontinued it the following year, although it has reappeared multiple times in limited editions till 2018.
Customers exhibit fervent enthusiasm for the burrito, initiating a petition for its reinstatement and establishing a robust “Beefy Crunch Movement” on Facebook, which has garnered 66,000 followers. Taco Bell anticipated that the Cool Ranch taco would have significant competition from the Beefy Crunch Burrito. Upon initiating voting last month, the firm stated in a release that, owing to the devoted fans, the burrito “will be one to beat.”
Upon tallying the votes, the burrito garnered 60% of the total, and the Cool Ranch taco obtained 40%.
The competition between the Beefy Crunch Burrito and Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Taco marked the second occasion on which Taco Bell solicited consumer input over the revival of two beloved menu items. Last year, the restaurant pitted the Double Decker Taco against the Enchirito, with the latter ultimately prevailing and receiving a limited relaunch in November 2022.
Taco Bell has not specified an exact return date for the Beefy Crunch Burrito, but indicated it will be in early August.
Although today is undoubtedly a joyous occasion for the members of the Beefy Crunch Movement, Taco Bell consumers have recently encountered difficulties. Quesarito enthusiasts expressed indignation upon discovering in March that the favored quesadilla-burrito hybrid would be discontinued on April 19.
While several Taco Bell patrons have rejoiced at the recent reintroduction of the Double Steak Grilled Cheese Burrito and Bacon Club Chalupa, others have expressed significant concerns with the pricing of these dishes.
