When you’re craving a Chicago tavern-style pie, the last place you might think to go is Pizza Hut, which is famous for its loaded crust and pan pies. But with a new, exciting item on the menu, it may all change.
The Chicago Tavern-Style Pizzas from Pizza Hut have just been unveiled, along with the company’s “biggest toppings menu overhaul in over a decade. Squares, not triangles, are the usual cutting pattern for tavern-style pies, and the crust is extremely thin and crispy. Chicago thin and crispy pizzas are equally as adored, if not more so, than the city’s renowned deep dish pizzas.
It wasn’t long before Pizza Hut followed suit, capitalizing on the tavern style’s meteoric rise in popularity across the US. Even while Domino’s and other competitors do provide crispy thin crusts, Pizza Hut claims to be the first worldwide quick-service pizza restaurant to provide the Chicago tavern style.
“These new offerings are a daring continuation of our culinary objective to provide our consumers with cutting-edge innovation that caters to their pizza-loving desires and needs. Pizza Hut’s chief food innovation officer Rachel Antalek made the assertion that Tavern is more than just a pizza; it’s a culinary movement that symbolizes the excitement of today’s pizza landscape.
Pizza Hut has eight new permanent toppings—Spicy Marinara Sauce, Pesto Sauce Swirl, Chicken Sausage, Fresh Diced Garlic, Grape Tomatoes, Caramelized Onions, Fire Roasted Peppers, and Crispy Cupped Pepperoni—to go along with their new pizza style. The four new iconic tavern-style pies from Pizza Hut, or customers can customize their pizzas using the new toppings:

Pizza Hut has just debuted a new pizza style—the Cheeseburger Melt—shortly after introducing a new take on the classic cheeseburger. Presented on a parmesan-crusted thin crust, it features meat, applewood-smoked bacon, onions, mozzarella, and cheddar scrunched inside. For a short period, patrons at participating establishments can enjoy the Cheeseburger Melt, which comes with a side of burger sauce.
