From the crunchy Cinnamon Twists to the sugary Cinnabon Delights, Taco Bell is responsible for some of the most inventive fast-food desserts available today. However, its most recent sweet offering may be among its most original offerings to date.
Starting today, August 31, Taco Bell will be trying a new Mtn Dew Baja Blast Gelato. Taco Bell lovers outside of southern California will have to make do with the Irvine location at 4101 Campus Drive if they want to try the new dessert.
Customers outside of California may still be able to enjoy the gelato in the future, though. In order to determine if new menu items are popular enough to roll out to more locations, Taco Bell is just one of many major fast-food restaurants that does this.
Tropical, zesty, and fruity flavors characterize the Baja Blast, Taco Bell’s distinctive teal-colored drink. The new gelato takes the popular frozen treat and adds those signature flavors.
“We are thrilled to hear how fans enjoy the sweet and creamy indulgence,” stated Liz Matthews, global chief culinary innovation officer at Taco Bell. “This is the first time we are releasing a gelato and we are so excited.” “Introducing Baja Blast in gelato form feels right,” the taco chain said of its renowned and fan-loved dessert. With summer drawing to a close, this is the ideal dessert to round off any Taco Bell dinner.
For $2.99 (plus tax), you can get a 3.6-ounce container of the new gelato from the Irvine restaurant. This special dessert will only be available for two weeks, or until supplies run out, so any Baja Blast enthusiasts in the area should not waste any time getting there.
Following the gelato test, customers should expect much more interesting announcements from Taco Bell. To promote the new dessert, Taco Bell hinted that “another flavorful Mtn Dew Baja Blast innovation will be coming around the corner this fall.”
Taco Bell has been experimenting with new menu items in certain markets this year, and the Baja Blast gelato is just the most recent addition. The chain debuted a Shredded Beef Grilled Cheese Burrito in Oklahoma City earlier this month and two new Flatbread Melts in Dayton, Ohio earlier this month.
In addition, Taco Bell began piloting their first Vegan Crunchwrap in June. It included vegan seasoned beef, vegan blanco sauce, vegan nacho sauce, shredded lettuce, and chopped tomatoes.
