Taco Bell enthusiasts would likely rank the Enchirito among the most lamented discontinued dishes, with other favorites such as the Caramel Apple Empanadas and 7-Layer Burritos.
This retro Taco Bell product originates from the 1970s, and patrons have consistently sought the reintroduction of the cherished burrito-enchilada combination since its discontinuation in 2013.
Fortunately, Taco Bell appears to be responding to the numerous requests for the Enchirito. The chain reintroduced the item for a brief while in November 2022 and intends to offer the Enchirito once more for a short duration in the near future.
Taco Bell’s Chief Marketing Officer, Taylor Montgomery, confirmed the return of a retired menu item during a recent Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) session, where a fan inquired about the item, which consists of a soft flour tortilla filled with seasoned beef, beans, and diced onions, then rolled and topped with red sauce and shredded cheddar cheese.

Montgomery openly addressed the fan, affirming that he can publicly disclose for the first time that it will return imminently for a limited duration.
For fans curious about Taco Bell’s rationale for reintroducing specific discontinued dishes, such as the Enchirito, but omitting others, Montgomery offered some insight into the considerations influencing these selections.
He stated that it pertains to what is appropriate for the brand, the business, and the team members—all indicative of fan feedback, encapsulated in cultural relevance and, naturally, what is distinctly Taco Bell.
Montgomery did not disclose any other information regarding the Enchirito’s comeback or its duration on menus. His remark suggests that shoppers will not have to wait much before they can reacquire the sought-after goods. A Taco Bell representative did not promptly reply to our requests for additional information regarding the Enchirito’s rerelease.
While the Enchirito relaunch is favorable for Taco Bell enthusiasts, some expressed dissatisfaction that its return will not be permanent.
If the Enchirito is indeed exceptional and cherished, as it is, why reintroduce it only temporarily? I appreciate its return; nevertheless, why not make it permanent? A customer inquired of Montgomery.

Supporters may anticipate that the forthcoming reintroduction will be sufficiently successful to motivate Taco Bell to provide a permanent position for the Enchirito on the menu.
Taco Bell patrons can anticipate the reintroduction of numerous other classic, discontinued favorites this year alongside the Enchirito. The Volcano Menu, featuring the Volcano Burrito, Volcano Taco, and popular Lava Sauce, will return on June 29, with rewards members granted early access on June 27.
Despite the Volcano Menu’s limited-time reappearance, Montgomery urged fans during the Reddit AMA to purchase it in plenty to facilitate its permanence.
The renowned Beefy Crunch Burrito will return in early August following its victory over the Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Taco in a consumer poll conducted earlier this year.
